Flu in the workplace

by Hugh Martin on 2006-07-28 09:53:14 - Email This

Beg your pardon, but could you pass the Flu please?

Not likely, you say?  Well, sure.  People don't ask for it, but then again, they might as well.  Without taking even the most basic steps like washing your hands with an antibacterial soap on a regular basis at work, what do you expect?

When a co-worker does get the flu, the best advice for that person and EVERYONE is for him/her to STAY HOME.  However, the average flu virus is active for 5-6 days when a person is sick, yet the average person will stay home maybe what......a day or two at most?

Coughing into the phones, then handling files and staplers and then the handle to the restroom door.  You see the flow here.

The federal and state governments consider another influenza pandemic inevitable, so they are taking steps to prepare by providing as much information and hand hygiene guidelines as possible.  Gojo has a good page to read about this in their Workplace Wellness section.

Want to get a handle on the flu in your office before it ripples through your staff?  Post information on good hand hygiene and get antimicrobial office products that will help control the spread of the virus if it does come to visit your office.
