Here's a good ad (aired in Europe actually) from a company that decided in include Microban protection in their products.

Microban states that in a recent survey, "almost 60% of consumers said they were concerned about their day-to-day exposure to microbes, and over 80% of consumers reported usage of four or more antimicrobial products."

Clearly, the rise in Antimicrobial products is not without reason.
